'Hathcock'
Hathcock Sniper Range is designated as an unimproved Sniper Range for
employing qualification with long range, precision weapons. These
include the M40A3 Sniper Rifle, and the Designated Marksman M14 (DMR).
Hathcock Range is designed for firing from distances up to 1000 yards, and
has multiple points for firing from odd or unknown distances.
Hathcock range is dedicated to the legendary Marine Sniper, GySgt.
Carlos Hathcock, and this range has provided training for hundreds of Scout
Sniper School students, MEU(SOC) Designated Marksman through the II MEF SOTG,
and 2d Marine Division STA Platoons.
Scheduling of this range must be conducted through the
WTBN S-3/Operations Section as it is
often loaded up with qualification requirements for Scout Sniper School,
AITC, SOI, and
annual qualifications for II MEF SOTG Training packages.
