H & S CO
Marines of Headquarters and Service company
are split up into different sections. These sections are tasked with the
job of supporting the Ground Combat and AAV elements. This support
consists of making sure that these Marines don't have to worry about whether or
not they are going to get paid, fed, medically treated, properly supplied with
equipment, and kept in communications with the other elements. It is a job
that is rarely glorified, yet is essential to the Marines on the front lines.

H&S
Hike
Unitas
CE Marines hiked 8 miles from mainside to a training area in March.
The small number of Marines sure didn’t limit the amount of motivation
the platoon showed on the way.
Pictured
here leading the formation, from left to right, are Sgt Gomez, Capt Lobato, and
GySgt Alston.

Medical Training
While
in the field, Hospital Corpsman Second Class (HM2) John took the opportunity to
give medical classes to the H&S Marines.
His classes included hot/cold weather injuries, splints, shock treatment,
and proper use of backboards.
In the example below, Cpl Willmon simulated a fall from a five-ton truck.
HM2 John instructed the other Marines to provide first aid for his
“broken leg,” and “neck injury.”

Non-Combatant Evacuation Exercises
One
of the Unitas missions is to prepare for the possible evacuation of American
citizens and their families from a hostile situation in a foreign country.
Unitas H&S Marines practiced the actual process of evacuation while
out in the field in March. Here
they are setting up an evacuation site.

Promotions and Awards
Some of the duties of H&S company include writing promotions and
awards. It is a satisfying feeling to see a deserving Marine receive an award,
such as the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal received here by Sgt. Wallace of
the Motor Transport Section.
