Marine Corps Systems Command is in the process of procuring replacement toolkits for the outdated Engineer Carpenter's and Pioneer Toolkits. Prior to investing in these new kits, we are trying to get feedback on adjustments needed for the Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) toolkits to best suit our requirements. In addition, we want to use this opportunity to establish an Engineer Breacher's Kit and an Engineer Reconnaissance Kit under the umbrella of the Family of Engineer Kits. We have worked with and tested these kits at the Engineer Center of Excellence and with local engineer units and want to ensure we get input from the rest of the community. As you will see from the first two links below we have plenty of feedback on individual tools. Please spend a few minutes to look at below links to see the kits SL-3 listings of the kits that your units will be getting in the near future. Feel free to comment on individual tools, but what we are really looking for is specifics and recommendations on what the Acquisition Objectives should be. For example; if we are to include a generator, what size should it be? How many platoon kits in an ESB line company, CEB line company etc.? For additional information you can visit the company websites at www.kippertool.com and download the catalog listed under Industrial Sets and Tool Kits or go to www.grainger.com and input either the model number or stock number in the search box located at the top of the page to get a description of the tool. The Breacher's and Reconnaissance Kits are in a different category. We are trying to build these from COTS items to meet engineer requirements. The feedback we would like for them is individual tools and what capability it provides. Be specific to the type and system requirements (power output, range etc.) Input can be provided by sending your comments via the submit issues link. Mark Equipment and Acquisitions and Combat Engineer on the form. All links listed below are in .pdf format.
