Emissions Inventory

Main steam plant

By 30 June of each year, MCBCL is required to submit a report outlining the actual emissions of each air pollutant listed in 2Q.0207(a) from each emission source at the facility during the previous calendar year.  The following air pollutants are quantified:

The report is required to follow the format prescribed by the NCDENR.  The accuracy of the report must be certified by a responsible official at MCBCL.  Camp Lejeune began annual reporting of air emissions in 1993 and submitted its first Title V permit application in CY1996. Since the initial submission, the installation has identified trends in its air emissions, which are directly related to activities on the Base. In addition to military and facility maintenance activities, Camp Lejeune acts as a municipality, with its own fire department, police department, water/wastewater treatment plants, hospital, etc. The installation is home to a multitude of air emissions sources including boilers, emergency generators, jet engine testing, fire training, woodworking, welding, painting, chemical stripping, abrasive blasting, water treatment, dry cleaning, parts cleaning, storage tanks, remediation systems, and two landfills.  The following graphs show the trends in emissions data for 1993-2002:

MCB Camp Lejeune Actual Annual Emissions (tons/year)

Criteria Pollutants, 1993 – 2002

MCB Camp Lejeune Actual Annual Emissions (lb/year)
