   The Environmental Lab Section falls under the Environmental Compliance Branch of the Environmental Management Division.  They are responsible for operating and maintaining a lab that monitors Lejeune's five water treatment plants, and Lejeune's advanced wastewater treatment plant.  This monitoring is required by the Safe Drinking Water Act, Clean Water Act, and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System.

   Duties performed by this section include:

  • Bi-monthly river sampling from April-October in accordance with Lejeune's NPDES permit.  Sampling includes analysis of conductivity, dissolved oxygen, pH, total phospurus, and nitrogen levels.

  • Conducts all sampling and analyses for lead and copper in the five drinking water systems on Base.

  • Sample analyses of compost materials.

  • Bio-solids analyses prior to land application.
