is a 'BLT' |
| The
mission of BLT 3/8 is to "Locate, close
with and destroy the enemy by fire and maneuver; or to repel the
enemy's assault by fire and close combat." |
| To
accomplish this, the battalion's organic complement of three rifle,
a weapons, and a headquarters company are reinforced by a variety
of forces from throughout the 2d Marine Division, to include a tank
platoon, assault amphibian platoon, light armored reconnaissance
platoon, and an artillery battery. Collectively, the reinforced
battalion is referred to as a Battalion Landing Team. |
